Overland Park, KS, November 4, 2014 – illustrate inc a leading provider of life insurance illustration and point-of-sale technology in North America today announced the latest release of their industry leading OPUS 4.0 platform along with the new OPUS Studio Tools Suite of products. “The 2014 release of our OPUS platform is the result of a six month R&D initiative that has delivered the results we needed to continue to position our OPUS platform as a top choice for U.S. life insurance carriers” said Jay Stevens, Senior Vice President and General Manager for illustrate inc’s U.S. Operations. “We updated the user experience with our new HTML 5.0 solution, which means complete support for Web, desktop and mobile from a single code base. At the same time we now have a set of base products that U.S. companies demand and a new suite of Home Office tools to ensure speed-to-market” stated Stevens.

“We have been a leader in the life insurance illustration and point-of-sale market in Canada for over 25 years with our innovative True Engine ArchitectureTM” commented Lorne Brown, President of illustrate inc. “With our acquisition of the Lewis & Ellis software division last year we made a commitment to the U.S. market. Now with our latest release, OPUS 4.0, we continue to position ourselves to provide the best quality product and the industry’s best return on investment for illustration and eApp solutions, for U.S. insurers.”

OPUS 4.0 continues to build on illustrate inc’s industry leading True Engine ArchitectureTM by moving both the user interface and the business rules to the True Engine structure. To eliminate the need for costly system upgrades and expensive RFP processes, U.S. insurers need a solution that can remain technology independent for years to come. OPUS is designed to meet that challenge. While re-writing solutions every five years because of technology advances may be good for the solution provider, it is not a cost effective, long-term solution for the insurer. By separating insurer specific product specifications, business rules, rates and calculations from the calculation, report, user interface and business rules engines, OPUS allows an easy migration path to tomorrow’s technology, without sacrificing today. In addition, the OPUS Studio Tools Suite ensures that developing new products for the OPUS platform is quick, easy and cost effective. These tools have been designed so that the insurer, if they choose, can take on much of the development or maintenance of their own solutions. This approach offers the flexibility for the insurer to maintain their products themselves, or they can look to illustrate inc to supplement their efforts when their own resources are not available.

“Over the past 20 years, U.S. insurers have continually overspent for their sales solutions”, stated Stevens. “The OPUS True Engine Architecture can eliminate the need for costly upgrades and resource draining RFP processes. Our goal has always been to deliver long-term solutions to our clients, and with OPUS 4.0 we take another significant step doing just that”.
